The World’s Largest Cruising Catamaran

Meet the sailing yacht Hemisphere, a 145-foot catamaran. Launched in 2011 by the Pendennis Shipyard in the Cornish town of Falmouth, in the UK, this sailing yacht is the world’s largest cruising catamaran. It was designed by Van Peteghem Lauriot Prévost (VPLP) architects, a multi-disciplinary firm of naval architects, engineers, and designers specializing in sailing and motor vessels.

Hemisphere boasts an aluminum hull and aluminum superstructure, as well as many special features that provide its owners and guests with the utmost in luxury and comfort. To date it has completed two circumnavigations around the world. Powered by two Caterpillar engines, which provide a cruising speed of 11.0 knots and a top speed of 13.0 knots. The yacht when under sail travels at a speed of 13 knots and a top sailing speed of 20 knots.
